Winter has settled into our little corner of the world which is all new to me because we lived in California and the Pacific Northwest for many years and snow was just a passing phenomenon.
I will be spending more time in my studio instead of wandering the countryside every day—though I will still do some of that because one must get out into these gorgeous winter landscapes.
Mornings, I spend a bit of time with a cup or two of tea and just gazing out my windows. The light is incredible in this house—it is all windows and I find myself becoming more and more inspired in my work. Life feels slower and a bit more graceful and contemplative. I find myself feeling joyful while browsing through favorite cookbooks and thinking of comfort food, and hot rich stews and Shepherd’s pies.
The farm markets are bursting with root vegetables and luscious apples and pears. The scent of apples wafts over you when you walk in the doors of the markets. We are in wine country here which is just at the top of the Annapolis Valley so one also thinks of what wine pairs with a chicken pot pie or an apple pie. And cheese, must not forget the local cheeses which are truly good.
I have a feeling I will be adding food images to my portfolio very shortly.
